چکیده

The subsection entitled Performance in the presence of high collinearity on page 15 starts with the sentence “It is reasonable to assume that the presence of highly correlated covariates may complicate the identification of relevant predictors.” Two new covariates, which are linear combinations of existing covariates, are then added to simulated data which had N = 50 samples and p = 200 covariates, with the conclusion that “. . . the algorithm is reasonably resistant to colinearity between predictors.” It’s not clear what’s intended here, since the dimensions of the data imply multicolinearlity, and the method is supposed to address cases in which the number of regressors is much larger than the sample size (e.g. page 2). Questions of interest with regard to multicolinearity would include:

A Stochastic Partitioning Method to Associate High-dimensional Responses and Covariates

We consider the problem of variable selection in data sets with many response variables and many covariates. A method is proposed that allows some covariates to affect some response variables and not others, and that clusters responses which have similar dependence on the same set of covariates. A Markov chain Monte Carlo procedure is employed to sample from the space of pairwise partitions of ...

Use of Evidence-Informed Deliberative Processes – Learning by Doing; Comment on “Use of Evidence-informed Deliberative Processes by Health Technology Assessment Agencies Around the Globe”

The article by Oortwijn, Jansen, and Baltussen (OJB) is much more important than it appears because, in the absence of any good general theory of “evidence-informed deliberative processes” (EDP) and limited evidence of how they might be shaped and work in institutionalising health technology assessment (HTA), the best approach seems to be to accumulate the experience of...

Peer Reviewers’ Comments on Research Articles Submitted by Iranian Researchers

The invisible hands of peer reviewers play a determining role in the eventual fate of submissions to international English-medium journals. This study builds on the assumption that non-native researchers and prospective academic authors may find the whole strive for publication, and more specifically, the tough review process, less threatening if they are aware of journal reviewers’ expectation...

A comment on the origin of Corona virus

The new coronavirus origin is one of the important controversial subjects in the study of this virus. There are many contradictions about the epidemiological data and bat origin of the virus. In this regard heterodox view by cosmic biology concepts, exceptionally bright fireball event a few months before the outbreak in China, and extraordinary weak solar cycle with many sunspot free days could...
